Muhammad is a well-known trainer and trained a large number of corporate clients, and strongly believes that seeking top management commitment is the most important factor in the implementation of an effective BCM (business continuity management) Program.
"Besides the controls from the industry regulators, sometime effective presentations, elaborating the importance of effective response for continuity and survival of business, also works efficiently. Once we achieve this milestone, the BCM program itself drives its ways across the organization," Muhammad said.
According to him, business continuity is every one's business, and this is the message and level of understanding required to implement effective business continuity programmes.
Muhammad continues, "This level can only be achieved when organization accepts Business Continuity Management as an integral component like Financial, Sales, Human Resource and IT Management System in the organization."
To further stress this point, he shared a simple example, "If we want a desktop in our organization, we always refer to IT Department, we cannot avail our vacation, without involving Human Resource Department, but how can we acquire, expand, modify or even terminate a business process/ resource without the involvement of Business Continuity Management? To achieve a resilient business continuity program, it is important to have an effective management of BCM, having independent owner of the Program and implementing organization-wide obligation to support the program. The BCM organization should ultimately be involved in important decision of the organization, from the acquisition of technology infrastructure to modification in a business process."
Muhammad's professional accreditations include ISMS ISO27001 Lead Auditor, BCMS BS 25999 Lead Auditor, Certificate of The Business Continuity Institute (CBCI), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) and honored with "Member" status of MBCI by The Business Continuity Institute - UK. "I look forward to speaking at the Business Continuity & Emergency Response Forum. Being an effective forum of Business Continuity Professionals from all over Middle East, I am expecting, progressive understanding of Business Continuity Management from industry regulators from all industry. Just like financial industry regulators including Central Banks, Stock Exchanges and Capital Market Authorities, it is high-time for other legislators and regulators like Municipal Authorities, Government Sectors, Telecom Sectors and Chambers of Commerce across the region, should encourage the implementation of effective BCM programs, which ensure timely response and mitigation of risk across the sectors. I believe that like other developed economies, BCM should also be considered as vital factor in managing the risks across the organization and desired attention will ultimately ensure a "Resilient Middle East".
The second edition of the Business Continuity & Emergency Response Forum is endorsed by United Nations Development Programme and features an associated exhibition. The forum is designed to provide governmental bodies, executive offices, central government, civil defence, police as well as financial and oil & gas companies a greater insight into having an efficient business continuity plan with topics that cover planning, designing, testing, training and maintenance, and how the plan can be used to enhance business resilience to any kind of disruption.
Muhammad Ghazali will share the stage with speakers from United Nations, Dubai Municipality, ADNOC, Metropolitan Police Service and Emirates Airline to mention a few.
